Bird Watching Workshop

12. Juli 2025 - Ingo Vetter

On July 3rd, 2025, a birdwatching workshop was held in the Überseestadt area with students from the Klasse Ingo Vetter. Park Subeom, an exchange student from South Korea, shared his experience of how observing birds in the unfamiliar environment allowed him to begin sensing his surroundings. He introduced how to organize the record of the birdwatching using the “eBird” app, and how to identify song birds’ sound with the “Merlin Bird ID.” app.
In the cool and sunny weather, we found a gliding White Stork(Weissstorch)) right after departing from Speicher XI. We also observed a large flock of nearly 100 juvenile Common Gulls, and watched the Greater Whitethroat, a summer visitors in Bremen. A total of 25 wild bird species were observed not in a nature reserve (NSG), but right next to the school. The complete checklist can be viewed at: https://ebird.org/checklist/S256434745
